Spring Body Image Challenge Day 2

Happy Day 2!

I thought i'd share with you some things I wrote down for day 1:

Things I like about my spirit (who I really am, not my body)

* I am compassionate and loving, I really care about people (I may not be the best at showing it, I'm working on that) But I really have a very tender heart and I need to remind myself that is a strength not a weakness
* I am inherently nurturing and my greatest desire is to be a good mom
* I actually have a pretty good sense of humor, when I let go and allow myself to be myself
* I am strong, resilient and never give up
* I am creative
* I love learning, growing and improving

Things I like about other people

My Aunt Brenda: I love that she is so accepting of everyone regardless of their religion, weight, circumstances, how hopeless they seem, etc.... I love that she enjoys the simple pleasures in life and has a good sense of humor, I admire that her kids are her #1, her family is her #1 priority, and also that she guides them in light and truth but ultimately she lets them make their own choices and learn from their mistakes. I love that she is her quirky self and doesn't try to be someone else.

My Aunt Ida Mar: I admire her love and devotion to the gospel. She was faithful in reading the scriptures every single morning and when she died she wanted to be buried with her scriptures. I remember her not letting me come over to her house when General Conference was on because she wanted to pay full attention. She truely loved the gospel and endured to the end. I love and miss her.

My sister Melissa. I cannot even begin to describe how amazing she is and although she is my little sister I look up to her in so many ways. She is SO strong and courageous and faithful and happy. She is the funniest person I know and such a great friend to me. She is on a mission right now and since she won't be reading this I can say I CANNOT wait for her to come home.

So there was my day 1, so uplifting! I'm already starting to feel better. Except for the food poisoning part, yea I poisoned my husband and I. Not sure what happened, I made Massaman Curry like I have many times before and something was not right about it. Needless to say our weekends have been better! Being sick is the worst! Especially when you are to blame ha ha.

Off to day 2!

So to start day 2 watch this video:

In that spirit, write down what being healthy means to you! Go beyond the physical aspects, although those are really important and the body, mind and spirit are connected so you can't really mention health without mentioning the physical, but what else is there? What keeps your mind and spirit healthy? What helps you enjoy a full, whole-hearted life? Think about the other aspects of health you may be neglecting. In the media we hear a really imbalanced approach to health. It's all about weight, calories, size, push-ups, abs, you know what i'm talking about. I think our overall health and well being is neglected. And there's a reason for it. Good health doesn't make money. Diet scams, beauty products, pills, those make money, and they keep us coming back for more, just what they want. Healthy eating, exercise, spiritual renewal, etc...makes a lot of sense but it doesn't make a lot of money. The power of your health is in your hands. You can be skinny and not very energized and healthy. So today I challenge you to take the focus OFF your weight and size and put it on your overall well being and happiness.

So redefine health for yourself....What makes you healthy and happy?

I will share my thoughts tomorrow! Have a beautiful day!
