It's National Eating Disorders Awareness week. This year the theme is "Everybody knows somebody", I wonder if that is true. I bet it pretty much is, ED's are getting to be so common and so many people are affected by them whether personally or by a friend or family member. I think they are more common and serious than a lot of people realize. Sadly they are sometimes even the norm or even praised as self discipline but they are truly destroying lives. I HATE ED's!!!! I feel for all the people suffering from them and I just wish I could give them everything I have learned and overcome.
Do you know somebody? besides me ha ha. I know a lot of people, mostly from treatment but also people I have met after treatment. It seems like every time I open up about my past Eating disorder people are like oh yea I struggled with one, or my sister, or my friend, or my mom etc. etc. etc. Sometimes its hard to open up about my ED, I am either scared of judgment, or its just not the right time to bring up a sensitive subject. But I think its good to talk about it. Everybody has something, we all have weaknesses. So when you open up about your own it gives other people permission to open up about there's and we realize we're not alone.
The other day I was at lunch with a friend and she was talking about a hard time she's going through and I had a feeling to tell her that when things get tough they always get better....after the rainstorm comes the rainbow..so just hold on. I don't know if it helped her but I realized I really believe in that. Good times always follow bad if you just hold on and believe its going to get better and do your best. Life always gets better than it ever was before because you become a stronger person. So for anyone going through a hard time just HOLD ON and believe it will get better because it will! If we endure hard times well it always gets sooo much better!
Thanks!
