Spring Body Image Challenge Day 9

Challenge: Make peace with your jeans/genes

I am an advocate for healthy living, healthy eating, and taking care of your body. It makes us feel good, energized and brings out the best in us. Most importantly when we take care of our bodies we take care of our spirits. But there are things we just have to accept about our genetic make up, we shouldn't try to fit into a size 7 shoe if we really wear a 9. May sound silly but some of the media's unrealistic ideals they put on Women are just that absurd and unattainable. Our physical make up is a part of who we are and where we come from. Instead of trying to be different then we were meant to be it is better and more helpful for sure, if  we accept and learn to appreciate who we are and where we come from. Every person is different with a different Genetic code. But then we are also all so much alike as a human family. We all have bodies. You were given yours, how are you going to take care of it?

Today, instead of being troubled by your so called "problem areas" think of you ancestors and the people who came before you.  Be proud of your GENES and who you are! Accept what makes you you instead of trying to change it.

This fine lady is my Grandma Great (yes Grandma Great, not great Grandma) She is one of the most kind-heart, loving, gentle, funny, light hearted, faithful women I know. I am proud to be her Great grand-daughter. I feel like I am her favorite (even though we all feel that way) but I really am. She passed away but I talk about her as if she's still here because I feel her with me and know I will see here again. She is just in a different room, But exists just the same.

Grandma Great, Grandma, Aunt Brenda
This pic makes me teary eyed.
my Mila Girl is named Mila Mae after her.

These amazing ladies are my Mom, Aunts, and Grandma. They are all strong women who have each been through a lot and have persevered with their strong spirits. My mom especially has done so much for me and I know how much she loves me. They are each examples to me of faith, hard work, womanhood, gentleness, nurturing, and love. I love them all and am grateful and proud to come from such an amazing heritage of Women. They've instilled in me a love of family, motherhood, homemaking, and being a woman.

My Grandma is the coolest grandma in the whole entire world. She has been through more then should be humanly possible for a spirit to go through but she is triumphant and strong and continues to endure to the end. I have been so blessed to have such a fun amazing grandma, I have so many good memories with her. I am so privileged to come from her.

Grandma Chillin
Best of all they gave me a love for camping and being in nature! We have the best family reunions!

That's my Grandma posing front and center because she's cool like that.

So next time I think I don't like my "big hands or feet" or my "big calves" or "broad shoulders" (i'm my own worst critic, I really don't have any genes I can complain about) or whatever it may be I don't even care because that doesn't even matter. What matters is what kind of person I am and how can I not be a good person coming from people like this? I am proud of who I am, and I am so very grateful to the people who came before me and worked so very hard through their lives to become who they are so I could have a better shot at becoming my best self. I'll take the "so called bad genes" I am who I am and I love my heritage.

Today, think of where you come from and be proud of it! If you come from circumstances where maybe you are adopted and not as fortunate circumstances as I. Remember that YOU come from Heavenly parents. You were made in his likeness and his image. You have God given traits and seeds of him planted in you. This is the most important. REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE!

I hope that my girl will NEVER not be proud of who she is and I hope she always remembers she is my girl and most importantly A Child of God. I love her more then life and he loves here even way more then I, which I cannot even comprehend.

Thank You Grandma Great, Grandma, Mom and all the amazing women who have come before me! I am proud to be your heritage and I hope I make all your hardships worth it because my life is so blessed because of you.
